Photos from our Beachcombers topic
We looked at lots of different creatures from the sea and talked about how they were similar and different. We were being proper scientists for the day.
Year 2 really enjoyed this topic and we had great fun learning about all the different plants and animals that live in and around the sea.
Thank you to everyone who brought in items from the beach for us to share in class, it really brought the topic to life.
Movers and Shakers Project
I would like to say a big thank you to all parents for helping your children with their projects this term. We were absolutely blown away with the quality and creativity of the projects- they were FANTASTIC! The children loved showing them to their class buddies and answering questions about how they made them. We had models of the moon, rockets, Powerpoints, posters and so many other wonderful ways of embedding the children's learning from our topic. Projects looked at a variety of significant people including: Joseph Lister, Rosa Parks, Neil Armstrong, Mary Anning, Christopher Columbus and Winston Churchill.
We used folding, twisting and layering to make 4 pieces of newspaper as strong as possible. Working in teams we build a bridge strong enough to hold a whole host of dinosaurs. Look at the photos here of how we got on. It was great fun!
Virtual trip to Helston Museum
We had a great virtual trip to Helston Museum on Monday and Isobel (from the Museum) showed us around all the exhibits on Henry Trengrouse. We learned about why he is a significant person from history and that he was born and lived in Helston. He saved many lives with his amazing Rocket Launcher and we enjoyed learning more about his inventions. Have a look at the questions we asked below.
